Disappointed with Apple Arcade

I’m disappointed with Apple Arcade. I activated it to introduce my daughter to video games, and I combined the subscription by buying an Apple TV and two classical console joysticks. I can’t say that it doesn’t work, but it works with just a few titles and has limits that I didn’t expect.

On both iOS and iPadOS, there are many options and nice games for a child to enjoy during their first experience with video games. On TvOS, games are scarce. There are few and, with a few small exceptions, are not totally compatible with the joysticks. Most games are clearly thought and developed for mobile devices with a touch display, not for the TVs.

Games for both me and my daughter to play together: almost no one.

Mobile devices have a wider market, developers choice it’s understandable. But my partner and I would rather not give an iThing to our child, so we are out of many possibilities that subscription offers.

Briefly, Apple Arcade on an Apple TV it’s a fluff.

Furthermore, I understood that Apple Arcade game developers are not satisfied with their experience. With the same market logics, Netflix is approaching developers better.

But in the meantime, I think Netflix is doing what Apple claimed they were doing with Apple Arcade—except Netflix didn’t lose focus five minutes into the initiative.

I have no constraints with this subscription, and that’s what I wanted. I think that near Christmas I’ll evaluate other solutions.

My daughter likes video games. She’s not addicted to it, and she respects shared rules. I want to continue to give her satisfaction, but I would like to try something that permits us to have more fun. The Apple Arcade is not the solution.
