In the opposite way
Listening to Luca Sofri1 speaking about the responsibility role of the “Il Post”, and generally of the journalism, I felt a strong emotional involvement, but in the opposite way.
When I was young, I organized musical festivals and literature fairs, I participated in events and multicultural exchange occasions: therefore, I have been committed to trying to cultural bettering the place where I lived—and where I live still now—improving also myself. So, I had a—very tiny—responsibility role towards the collectivity. And I was happy about this.
Instead, in the past twenty years, I’ve done a job that with this kind of responsibility doesn’t touch, not even glancing. I help the companies to improve their tech approaches, their knowledge, their habits, their ITC solutions and, consequently, their business. But, responsibility towards the collectivity, if I mean about the sens of awareness about “to play one’s role in bettering the place where one resides”, whether it’s a village or a nation, I didn’t anymore from years. That’s a shame.
And it’s for that I’m being involved, but in the opposite way: I’m doing nothing, absolutely nothing, to lend a helping hand to the present and the future of my community—more or less ample we mean. And I can’t stay still forever.
It’s time for me to step it up.
If you are socially active in your district, city, area or in your Country, please write to me. I’m curious, and I’m looking for a starting point to feel involved. If you’re not active, without crying over it, we speak about the same, and try to better together.
Luca Sofri is and Italian blogger and the Director and founder of Il Post, an online daily newspaper ( Wikipedia). He spoke about this last 26 October in Napoli, during an event called Talk. ↩︎
