Things that I can’t pay cashless in the South of Italy. Anno domini 2024.

Every time my partner proposes us a selfie, me and my daughter snort. She frames us, presses accidentally the shutdown button, and puts the phone in standby mode. We laugh. So, I take a picture of us that laughing. With my phone.

On one hand, platforms have faced increasing pressure for years now to crack down on speech globally and cooperate more with law enforcement agencies — including by breaking end-to-end encryption. Building platforms responsibly means reaching compromises with law enforcement agencies that allow for the investigation of serious crimes while protecting users’ privacy to the greatest extent possible. It’s a difficult, expensive dance, and when it’s working right neither the platforms or the law enforcement agencies are satisfied with the outcome.

That’s seemingly where we’re headed. Everyone alive today has grown up in a world where you can’t believe everything you read. Now we need to adapt to a world where that applies just as equally to photos and videos. Trusting the sources of what we believe is becoming more important than ever.

I’m disappointed with Apple Arcade. I activated it to introduce my daughter to video games, and I combined the subscription by buying an Apple TV and two classical console joysticks. I can’t say that it doesn’t work, but it works with just a few titles and has limits that I didn’t expect.

I have updated my blog’s logo. I’ve changed it because the previous was incomprehensible, in my opinion. Now I can say that I didn’t really like it.

Apple finally released the Podcast web app and, in the last few weeks, the Maps’ beta web app too. It was about time that Apple decided to take the web more and better into account in their solutions’ carnet. Better late than never.

Every time I come back from vacation, and every time I have much more time to spend reading English content, every damn time I come back with the desire to write my blog posts in English. Every. Single. Time.
